This is the best flashlight I've ever owned, and I've owned many of them.
I've had several LED lights that were very handy for getting around at night and were remarkably efficient and economical regarding battery usage, but none could seriously replace an upscale traditional flashlight.
Streamlight makes extremely good products. I still have two SL-20X models, one of which is more than ten years old and they are excellent flashlights, but the Stinger LED HP sets a whole new standard.
The beam of the Stinger LED HP is unbelievably bright and is perfectly distributed in a circle, as opposed to some lights that have rings and dark spots and all sorts of other annoyances. That would be good enough, but the Stinger also projects a diffused and much dimmer beam that covers a wide area around the concentrated spot. It's hard to explain how useful that is until you have seen it. It is roughly equivalent to giving you peripheral vision at night.
The beam is much closer to the white end of the spectrum than that of an incandescent flashlight, which for some reason makes everything seem clearer. I have also noticed that when tracking a wounded animal that the blood trail almost jumps out at you. It's amazing.
Streamlight has made a major improvement in their charging stations by making the flashlight snap in to the charger, rather than depending on the weight of the light to make contact. Because of that, you can mount vehicle chargers horizontally, on your transmission hump, for example, and the light will stay in the charger no matter how many bumps you hit. Great idea.
The light has three levels of brightness that are controlled by how long you hold down the switch. One may wonder why you would ever want less light, but the LED HP is so bright that when tracking, or just casually walking less light is actually better. Indeed, if I were designing the light I would have included an even dimmer fourth setting.
There is also a rapidly flashing option that is accessed by pressing the switch twice in rapid succession. It's rather disorienting, so I assume it has a defensive function, though I've never had anyone try it on me. What the heck, if you don't need it don't use it, but if you do it's there.
If there is anything bad to say about this light I don't know what it is. Again, it's the best flashlight I've ever owned.

I am not a flashlight techie like a lot of reviewers. I live in a rural area and the flashlight is invaluable for marauding Varmits and other unwanted visitors while walking or working at night, specifically Rattlesnakes in the season.
Having been a former law enforcement officer, I knew the value of the flashlight in that kind of work and relied heavily on their written opinions here before deciding to purchase. I'm happy I did. I was so surpised upon using this light for the first time. I read about others claiming more lumens etc, but was most swayed by the LE guys using it daily. Well, they were right , the light output is astounding, it is well focused with just enough periphery light around the main beam to make orientation and tracking easy. The recharging, both ac and dc are great and well thought out. No battery changes or removal for re-charging......just slide it into the charger receiver by aligning the charging posts and it will snap into place with the re-charging light confirming proper contact. The light controls with a very traditional push button switch that was well thought out and easy to operate. The light is smaller and lighter than a old style c cell Kelite and is easily carried in a front or rear pocket. The non-slip rubber body grip is also a great feature. Quite honestly, if this light holds up as well as it initially functions it will well earn the five stars I gave it...only time and use will tell. I thought spending this much on a flashlight was crazy, but can tell you now..I was wrong. It is worth every penny and I highly recommend it.

This is the best light I have ever owned.
I am a service inspector and I see stuff with this light that other lights did not even light.
I used MagLites for years but this light serpasses them with size,weight and power hands down!
