The P2X Fury uses a high-efficiency, virtually failure-proof LED to deliver either 15 or 500 lumens of focused light, the latter qualifying the Fury as a pocket-sized searchlight. The 15-lumen level is excellent for general work at close-to-medium distances, and also extends the light's runtime. At either setting, the high-strength polymer micro-textured reflector delivers a smooth, comparatively wide beam with a brighter central area and generous peripheral light. The Fury is activated with a click-type tail cap switch, and the high-strength aerospace aluminum body is hard anodized to military specifications for extreme resistance to scratches, abrasion, and corrosion.

This powerful, compact light offers 500 lumens of brightness and fits in the palm of your hand.

About SureFire
In 1969, Dr. John Matthews -- an engineer with a Ph.D. from Cal Tech -- founded the Newport Corporation to harness the power of laser light for industrial applications. Over the next decade, the Newport Corporation grew to become a leader in the field, pioneering a host of patented industrial uses for the laser. Dr. Matthews' later created and patented the first laser sight for law enforcement use with firearms, a market that became his primary focus. His newly formed subsidiary, Laser Products, eventually created the first weapon-mounted flashlight. The popularity of the SureFire WeaponLight, as it was called, led the company to rename itself SureFire, and focus on creating a host of rugged lights for tactical use, which continues to be the company's primary focus.

5Furiously Brilliant!
By Kempy
I love the idea of a dual output flashlight! You don't really need to use the full brightness of the flashlight when you're walking in the dark, you just need enough light to see where you're walking so you don't twist your ankle. Also, having a dim setting really helps your night vision. If you need to see something in the distance, you can light it up as clear as day.
I tested this flashlight out on a 2 hour walk on some old railroad tracks through the forest. The trees block a lot of the ambient light from the moon and the stars, so it's pretty dark. Most of the time I used the dim 15 lumen setting to see where I was going. Once in awhile, I would see some eyes on the trail up ahead of me. I was glad that I could click the switch and light up the animals with 500 lumens. I saw two whitetail deer in one hour. I think the low output setting keeps them from getting too spooked.
As far as quality goes, I'm very happy with the fits and limits of the Surefire P2X Fury. There are no burrs on the metal, and the finish is consistent. There is only one odd circular shape left where the brand name is engraved made by the tool that machined the groove, but it's not a serious flaw. It feels very solid, but not too heavy. Much lighter than carrying around a 2 or 3 D cell flashlight.
I would definitely recommend this flashlight to any serious outdoors enthusiast, it's probably a bit more than what's needed for the average camper. Also, it would obviously be a great choice as a tactical home or car defensive flashlight.

5Another solid Surefire light
By welder314
I have several Surefire lights, and like the others, this one does not disappoint. Incredibly bright and fairly tight beam on the High setting, with enough spill to see surrounding areas. On Low, it gives enough light to navigate easily, and has awesome run time. It's basically like the G2X, but with a turbo button! The dual modes and wide range of intensity make this is a very versatile light, while still remaining simple and durable.

If you use this light much, go get an AW 17670 rechargeable or two - it fits perfectly. That's my daily use battery. No decrease in light output. It gives about half the run time - which is still ridiculously long - but costs next to nothing to use. CR123's are good for emergency use with their 10 year shelf life. If I could only have one light, I would probably pick this one.

5The sun in my pocket
By Cj
Greetings,

I paid $123.78 for this on November 1st, 2012. I looked around for this type of flash light for a while. At work we get issued stinger rechargeable that I carry on my duty rig, but I wanted another pocket torch. Something small, light, and yet very powerful. I was looking at the ASP 35625 Triad LED Flashlight, but I went with the greater power output of the surefire. The ASP does recharge but I happen to get the batteries for free, so for me it was easier to go with. This flashlight is very rugged and worth the value!

(I'm currently working on about 500 reviews, I order pretty much everything from Amazon but I (until now) never review. So I'm going through the years of orders to catch up, and try and give back to the system. If your reading this PLEASE hit the button saying this review was helpful, it does help out the people that make reviews, and trust me it takes a lot of time... I try not to make long winded reviews, all of the specs are in the product description)
